What is The NZ Session Collective?

The NZ Session Collective (NZSC) is a closed live-music booking platform connecting organisers, producers, and promoters with New Zealand’s top session musicians and ensembles.

How do I book live music through NZSC?

Online, and through our app Locrian | filter by genre or instrument, check real-time availability, set your date/time and confirm. You’ll see transparent rates and complete secure payment in seconds.

What types of events can I book?

We cover studio recordings, corporate functions, private events, live shows, festivals, theatre productions and more—any occasion where you need professional musicians.

How are pricing and musician rates calculated?

We use our 2025 NZD 177/hr base rate, adjusted for experience premiums and booking complexity. Our real-time calculator displays all fees before you confirm.

What payment methods are accepted?

We support major domestic and international credit/debit cards, bank transfers and cryptocurrencies. Funds are held in escrow and released to musicians once your booking concludes.

Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?

Yes—as per our policy:
≥ 5 days’ notice | 85 % refund (after 15 % admin fee)
< 5 days’ notice | 25.5 % refund (after admin fee and 30 % retention)

How does NZSC vet its musicians?

All artists pass NZSC’s Ionian® two-stage audition, judged by industry experts. We continuously monitor performance ratings, client feedback and professional development.

Do your musicians provide their own equipment?

Yes—every instrumentalist or ensemble brings only the backline and gear they personally require. For PA systems, backline hire or engineer packages, add services via our partner network in Locrian.

Can I book last-minute?

Yes—instant bookings within 48 hours depend on artist availability. Use Locrian’s “Real-Time Availability” filter to see and book musicians who are available now.

How can I get support or leave feedback?
